Status and Conservation of State Sensitive Grassland Bird Species in the Willamette Valley

This report presents results from a two-year project initiated by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife to develop management and conservation strategies for several State Sensitive grassland-associated bird species in the Willamette Valley. Five species, Oregon vesper sparrow, streaked horned lark, western meadowlark, grasshopper sparrow, and common nighthawk, were designated as target species based on concerns about declining populations and habitat loss, and limited information on their status and breeding ecology.
